Patriotic Degree

A Man’s Country is Not a Certain Area of Land, of Mountains, Rivers, and Woods, but it is a Principle.

Patriotism is Loyalty to that Principle.

The Fourth Degree emphasizes the importance of Patriotism and active Catholic Citizenship.

This degree is designed to foster a sense of national pride and responsibility among members, encouraging them to participate in civic and community activities. Fourth Degree members are known as “Sir Knights” and are distinguished by their red, white and blue regalia.

To become a member of the 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus, an individual must meet the following requirements:

They must be a 3rd degree member in good standing for at least one year.

They must demonstrate exemplary Catholic behavior and be a practicing Catholic.

The candidate must be of sound citizenship in their country, demonstrating loyalty and devotion to their country.

Candidates must be sponsored by a 4th degree Knight.

The 4th degree provides Guards of Honor at Mass, wakes, funerals, dedications, and other civic or patriotic functions. It also provides a Color Corps and Honor Guard and supports veterans and active-duty military through the Serving Those Who Serve program.
